Dr. Wesler Lambert’s 27-year journey with Partners In Health in Haiti is a testament to his dedication and the organization’s impact on healthcare in the country. Starting as an intern in 1997, Lambert witnessed firsthand the difference in patient care provided by PIH co-founder Dr. Paul Farmer and his Haitian colleagues compared to his previous experiences in Port-au-Prince.
Throughout his career, Lambert took on various roles within Zanmi Lasante, PIH’s sister organization in Haiti, including pediatric ward physician, medical director, and deputy executive director. He also supported PIH’s efforts in Rwanda and played a crucial role in the organization’s response to the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
In January 2024, Lambert assumed the position of executive director of Zanmi Lasante. Despite the challenges posed by instability and violence in Haiti, he remains committed to making the organization sustainable, improving the quality of care, and creating a supportive work environment for his dedicated team.
“To see the team risking their lives to keep our services running, gives me the motivation to be like them,” Lambert said in an article on the PIH website, reflecting on his colleagues’ unwavering commitment to serving their community.
