MrBeast’s Prescription for Medical Philanthropy

MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson

Angels in Medicine typically highlights the work of medical humanitarians. Doctors, nurses, community health workers — the people who go above and beyond to provide care to those in need. Occasionally we feature organizations that fund such care. But until now, we have not discussed the work of social media influencers or popular YouTube personalities. Until today.

MrBeast, the online name of Jimmy Donaldson, has become one of YouTube’s most prominent stars thanks to his over-the-top stunts and challenge videos. While best known for massive giveaways, MrBeast has also established Beast Philanthropy to drive charitable impacts even further, including a focus on addressing healthcare and medical debt, and as well as housing, food insecurity, and lack of clothing.

Some Beast Philanthropy YouTube videos

Beast Philanthropy consists of both a YouTube channel and a website promoting various fundraising campaigns. On YouTube, fans can find videos of MrBeast eliminating millions in Americans’ medical debts or setting up temporary clinics to provide free dental care to those in need. The Beast Philanthropy website allows visitors to directly donate to ongoing medical campaigns, shop for charity merchandise, and track how their dollars provide healthcare assistance.

Some of his recent videos include covering the costs of free care at a CURE International Children’s Hospital and providing prosthetic limbs to 2000 people for free. On his MrBeast channel, he helped 1000 people with cataracts get corrective surgery and 1000 people with compromised hearing get advanced hearing aids.

While MrBeast built his fame through viral videos, Beast Philanthropy showcases his commitment to leveraging his platform for good. At just 24 years old, Donaldson has mobilized an army of loyal followers to raise and donate tens of millions of dollars specifically toward medical bills, expenses, and increasing healthcare access. From eliminating $30 million in medical debt for more than 15,000 Americans to funding life-saving surgeries for children in need, Beast Philanthropy allows fans to participate in grassroots activism to improve healthcare.

MrBeast makes saving lives look fun and showcases the tangible impact YouTube stars can make when they put their influence toward medical philanthropy.
