Chad faces a dual crisis of devastating floods and a massive influx of refugees from Sudan, severely impacting women and girls. These crises exacerbate existing vulnerabilities, limiting access to healthcare, food, and shelter, and increasing risks of sexual violence. The UNFPA is providing critical support, including deploying midwives and establishing health centers to offer reproductive health services and support for survivors of gender-based violence. Midwives on the ground share stories of the hardship and resilience of the Chadian and Sudanese women they serve. However, funding shortages limit UNFPA’s ability to meet the overwhelming needs, leaving many women without essential care. Additional financial support is needed to ensure the health and safety of vulnerable women and girls in Chad.
