Transforming Smiles Across Ohio: Dr. Daniel Stowe’s Legacy of Compassionate Dental Care

Daniel Stowe, DDS

Dr. Daniel Stowe, named 2024 Free Clinic Dentist of the Year by Ohio’s Charitable Healthcare Network, has transformed thousands of lives through Stowe Mission Dental in Columbus, providing essential care to Ohio’s most vulnerable populations while mentoring future dental professionals.

Dr. Stowe’s four-decade journey of service began in the 1980s when he started treating unhoused individuals at a local soup kitchen. His dedication has since expanded into a comprehensive dental care program that has served over 30,000 patients who otherwise would have no access to dental services. Under his leadership, Stowe Mission Dental has formed valuable partnerships with The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Columbus State Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program, transforming the clinic into both a care center and a teaching facility.

Beyond patient care, Dr. Stowe has been instrumental in upgrading the clinic’s infrastructure through his advocacy and industry relationships. These efforts have resulted in new dental chairs and significant facility renovations that have enhanced the patient experience. His work exemplifies the holistic approach of Stowe Mission of Central Ohio, which also provides medical care, pregnancy support, and serves over 250,000 meals annually to Columbus’ homeless and working poor.

The Charitable Healthcare Network and Ohio Department of Health will honor Dr. Stowe at the 2025 Safety-Net Symposium on April 30 in Columbus. “My mission has always been to restore dignity along with dental health. When someone can smile with confidence again, it opens doors that poverty had previously closed,” he said in his acceptance statement to the Charitable Healthcare Network.
