In Uganda, an inclusive eye health programme has helped to protect people’s vision and build a sustainable eye care system for everyone.
UConn students have partnered with RAM to organize a free health clinic offering medical, dental, and vision care to underserved local communities. This inspirational effort brings together over 100 UConn volunteers to serve nearly 300 Connecticut residents in need.
Led by Médecins Sans Frontières, Partners In Health, and others, a breakthrough TB collaboration called endTB has developed new pill-based treatment regimens that can cure drug-resistant TB in just 9 months. This offers new hope against a deadly foe in the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Makoy Samuel Yibi’s relentless efforts have brought Guinea worm disease to the brink of eradication. With support from the Carter Center, Makoy traverses rugged terrain in South Sudan to contain outbreaks and prevent future infections.
For the UCLA dental students, this mission served as a practical educational experience, extending beyond the traditional classroom. It emphasized the significance of professional duty and deepened their appreciation for the knowledge and skills acquired during dental school training.
